Jenita Michelle Martin Obituary (1938

Jenita Michelle Martin Jenita was born October 4th in 1938 in Oakland, ca., to Herbert S. Martin and Irene Martin. She attended and graduated from Berkley High, Jenita also attended South Lake Tahoe high School during the spring and fall months her parents spent working the family homestead. In 1956 she was featured in a ‘Ladies of the Lake’ Pin up calendar. Her Parents moved to Pleasant Hill, where she attended Diablo Valley College, where she met her husband to be Michael W. Barry. They were soon married, and their first son Layne was born the 5th of October 1959. Their second Son Jeff was born March 1st 1961. Unfortunately, their marriage did not last but only fourteen years, so in 1974 Jenita moved with her two sons to South Lake Tahoe, where her parents had retired too. South Lake Tahoe was a Very small town in the mid-70’s, and became too small for Jenita, and left her sons to finish their schooling and moved too Sacramento in 1977. This is where she met James Howard, they quickly joined their artistic talents and established ‘Howard & Martin’s Stain Glass.’ They Did Several Vintage Panel Replacements for the State Capital, they also traveled across the country doing high-end shows. They even went as far as traveling to Europe to collect deco and other period pieces for future projects. For a little over thirty years this was a passion that created a world of color, a true reflection of how Jenita lived her life.
