Bradys Ann Braden (Hemphill) Bradys Ann Braden, known to all as Ann, or “Bad Annie”, passed away on April 26, 2026 at the age of 77. Ann was born in Mississippi to Thomas “Tony” L.C. Hemphill and Mary Parilee Smith Hemphill. She carried her Southern roots with her throughout her life, and her strength, warmth, wit and resilience were felt by all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted husband of over 45 years, Francis Athel Braden, whom she married on June 6, 1980. She is also survived by her daughter, Rachael Braden, and son-in-law, Joseph Bettencourt, and her cherished grandchildren: Matteo Bettencourt, Shyann Bettencourt, Talon Braden, Sterling Bettencourt, and Zavanna Bettencourt. Ann is also survived by her two sisters, Debbie Holmes of Louisiana, and Paulette Gassaway of Ohio, as well as her beloved best friend, Anne Foust, known as “Good Annie”, who she loved like a sister. Debbie and her husband Gary have two daughters, Tori and Randi. Paulette’s children include Richie, Joey, and Theresa. Ann’s love extended deeply throughout her family, and she held close bonds with her nieces and nephews. She is also survived by multiple great-nieces and great-nephews. Ann made her home in Citrus Heights, California, where she built a life centered around family and love. She dedicated 25 years of her life working as a Medical Assistant at Kaiser in Roseville, where she was known for her compassion, her spicyness, a great sense of humor, and the genuine care she gave to every patient she encountered. She will be remembered for her strength, her warmth, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. Ann’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
